Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

I went to lock up tonight and this girl was in the nest box....how strange. I reached in to get her out and she screamed at me and started telling me off big-time! She was pretty protective of what was under her! HER FIRST EGG!
Funny side note: Cheeka commented on Facebook that she wouldn't be surprised if she didn't lay today! She's amazing at predicting the first eggs I tell ya!

Oh...and I am really concerned that Hedwig might be molting. The coop is full of her feathers. I should take a pic and you guys could tell me if this is for real or what. I'm a noob so I've never had a real molt yet and why would she be molting anyway???
