Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Hi. I'm new to backyard chickens and have 3 pullets at 18 weeks. About how long until they start laying eggs?

I collected my Hens today, and was very tempted to get a Silkie but I resisted the chicken math! When I get some deworming stuff in a month or two I might get a silkie. :)

I love them! They are timid but that's to be expected, Babs doesn't mind them but Selma has always been at the bottom of the pecking order and I think she is relishing in finally being a dominant hen. It hasn't been more than a few pecks and wing flaps and the new girls seem to be settling in really well. :) They got a little upset when it started to get dark but they soon settled themselves on the perches.

They are both twenty weeks old and I have looked on the Wheaten Marans thread and they generally lay around the 28 week mark, Polish live by no-ones rules so I'm not sure when she'll lay but neither look ready to lay.

Photo Time : I couldn't get a great photo of the Wheaten Marans (Monica) but she is at the side in a couple of the photos.

! it would be great to see some pics of your chickens while you wait for those eggs!

Min! gorgeous! congratulations!

It's been seriously quieter here without those 6 bachelor boys. I feel bad sort of... but it's the right thing to do. it's their purpose. and the family is grateful for the good food.
I didn't move anyone yet into the vacated pen, but I've been thinking about which groups should go where... I want all the large fowl in the back pen, so I need a few more larger width roosts. then I can put all the bantams in the dome.... Except for Brutus and Dutch. they'll have to live together, without other roosters... so they may go in the end section of the back pen... I don't know. Brutus fights with everyone but Dutch and if I separate them for even a day, Brutus forgets that they're buddies... I put Brutus with little Neffy for 2 days after her quarantine ended to see if they would like each other... they do, but Brutus went back home after free range and bloodied Dutch's comb and pecked him in the eye. chased him around all that afternoon but was best buds with him again by morning. so... I will give them plenty of bantam pullets, but they have to stay together.

hot today. hope everyone fares well!

Cheeka, I will see if I can find some pictures. Town ordinance only allows 3 hens.

I'm really hoping that they're all hens. I have 2 easter eggers and a rhode island red.
