Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

you're fortunate to have each other. she will have a joyful experience with all the new things in the world with you by her side, and structure, routine, good food, good sleep... and your memories with her will be the finest times. I love her sweet face. I imagine her excitement - leaf piles are the bomb! just check for ticks afterwards...

Thanks! I don't think about ticks.
She went to collect eggs, and scared Reba from the nest. Reba may be thinking of brooding. She spends a lot of time on the nest. We were outside for over an hour, and I never saw Reba until we scared her out.
As for Jazlyn's reaction... That was funny!

I got changed before Jazlyn left in preparation for cleaning up/out the small pen in the big coop (in the little yard, on the big property in the small town in the big state...LOL!!) but when she left I lost my energy for another hour. I finally got it done, and added a second lock to the big run. Since fixing the door, now the wind can blow the run open. That accomplished, I stapled a feed bag to the pop door I accidentally ripped off. I'll fix the door another day. I have weeds and saplings that have grown through the roof of the run, and I can't get in to fix the door. I'm working on the weeds, but (go figure!) I need the frosts to kill the weeds to make them easier to knock down. The door is small and light. Even in the cold, it should be an easy fix. Maybe ten minutes.
Jazlyn actually didn't seem excited to see her father. I felt bad, but not. She showed him the egg she'd just collected, and I almost think it bothered him. Not likely. Just the way it seemed. It was an odd interaction in general. He was likely preoccupied.

Seriously?! Where are you guys?!
Jazlyn came back after 8:30 last night. I almost killed myself moving a desk upstairs. It began to come back on me!
Trying to get two full desks condensed to one is still ongoing. I had most of the mess cleaned up before Jaz got here. I just knew she'd be back this week, so I threw stuff in big shopping bags to get it out of the way. When I got a call a little after eight asking if I'd watch her, I only had a few things to do.
We collected an egg before the rain began. I'm amazed that she instinctively looks in the second box when there's only one egg in the first. I don't check the other box often either. But I will when I think there should be more.
She also "got" the pop door today. She's seen them use it, but she finally squatted down to look out it, then pointed and told (or asked?) me about it.
So, the dining room has more play room now. Just in time for large Christmas toys to be played with in there!
Her booster seat is on a computer chair now. It took no time at all for her to figure out how to push, lean and wiggle the chair around while eating. So funny! For now anyway.

I'm here! and I'm being visited... figures my angels are chicken shaped.

Sunrise was beautfiul

I don't mind that he takes liberties... I just wish he would keep his dirty feet outta my hair...

cutie patooties, one boy, one girl.

he's something... handsome boy.

hoping for girls here... we'll see.

Cheeka, beautiful rooster! Today I was on my way out to the chickens with treats, and there they were, right by the door. They can certainly fly high enough to ring the doorbell, but I hope they don't. Anyways, what is the average age for laying with easter eggers? They are about 27 weeks old.

Sorry, been busy with all kinds of boring, non-related chicken stuff.

I think we underestimate kids all the time. At Jaz's age, they are total sponges, just soaking up everything they can. You are giving her the experiences to develop some very complex neural pathways. Best gift you will never be thanked for!

Christmas through a child's eye is so wonderful, magical. That's probably the biggest thing I miss having older kids. I expect many pictures!
