Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Yup! I just have to coordinate getting them.

Nice MC! Jaz will love her new duckies! that is so cool.

it's raining and crappy here with threat of snow overnight. I'm bummed. stuck inside, doing housework with the occasional break because I hate doing housework.

Sounds like a good day to be a duck, Cheeka. This winter is already colder than last winter, and it's not even winter yet. If you know what I mean, which you may not. I just drank a mug of hot chocolate. Sugar + caffeine makes me a little hyper. Can't imagine if I was a coffee drinker. Probably get a lot more done a lot faster!

How's Chester doing being an only dog? I know they sometimes have a hard adjustment after a loss.

One of my Serama's got sick last month, wet sneezing. I tried treating her, for about 3 weeks, but she didn't make it.

Horrified the other night when locking up to have another one sneezing. Squirted some Denegard down her gullet and now treating the whole flock in drinking water. Next day she seemed better, and yesterday, no more sneezing. Still going to finish the 5 days of treatment, but they don't like the taste, so are not drinking as much as usual. Let them out yesterday and they raced over to the outside waterer, only to find that I had flipped it upside down. Poor things were climbing all over it and licking the few remaining little drips. I guess I'm torturing them, but they need the medication. Bitter water is better than dead chickens.

I had a nice chocolaty cup of cocoa last night too! and I'm so relieved that we did not have one flake of snow by this morning!

Chester is doing fine - still can't really say Ruby's name... he starts looking for her. but he has Hershey the Cat to play with, Hershey loves to play and Oliver Cat loves to bite, so Hershey actively seeks out Chester. good thing he has always loved kitties...! cuz Hershey is a downright pest sometimes... mee mee mee all over the place, whapping his tail in anyone's face... gotta admit, it'd be a lonely place, without a little black cat called Hersh-Me.

After Jazlyn left yesterday, I went straight to the coops. The duck pen is the one I cleaned out a few weeks ago. You know? The one with a pop door that I broke, but didn't fix? "I don't mind fixing it in the cold" I said. "It will only take a few minutes" I said. Well, it's cold, and I don't wanna do it! I hope it only takes a few minutes!!! Especially since Jaz succeeded in giving me her cold, and I don't need more incentive to sneeze.
I got the extra bake of straw out, as well as the extra feeders and waterers. I also put down a thin bedding of straw. Enough to keep them warm, and the absorb mess, but little enough so that I can change out one area when needed without waste. Deep litter isn't something I think I can do with ducks.
So, today is going to be filled with lots of laundry, vacuuming, lugging Christmas gifts upstairs, fixing that gosh darn door, fixing the run I tore apart (Ohhhhhh, why did I do that?

) and trying to not freak out about the news someone gave me about the man that I call my husband.
Here is a picture of the pair.

Her daughter is 22 months (so the ducks will be used to a toddler!) and I get how that interferes with outside time. Their pen is in her basement. I think they will adjust find to being in the coop. Especially since it's not a small ... You know? Like my prefab coop is. Small and not really... Ugh! I hope you guys get what I'm saying!
So their pen will be 6x6 and next to the chickens. The extra bodies and the noises from the chickens should help with settling in to being out of the house at night.
I'm interested to see how their personalities will change. JoJo us currently on a mealworms and greens diet. Lily doesn't swim. Maybe it will be like a toddler/child. Different behavior in different environments.
Like Jaz only eating eggs and sleeping through the night for me. A sweet, outgoing teen in school, but a sullen one at home.
The kitchen is cleaned up, and the clean laundry is almost all dealt with. I have a load of laundry in the dryer, and I need to do dishes. The floors are next, then the pop door and run.
I'll get the stuff by the stairs when I finally shut up here.

Apparently, I should do the dishes more often. I usually do it once or twice a week. Well, I found the source of this horrible smell. I had not seen the cup, and there is milk in it. It is not a liquid anymore! I held my breath the entire time I cleaned it out. After that, I had to clean the coop. The girls weren't to happy because it is cold, and their coop is warm. I gave them some cheese, though, so they stopped squawking att me. My easter eggers still aren't laying. It seems that the more I want them to lay, the longer they wait.
