I guess it also depends on what size the poodle was too. Scoot is pretty smart. I need to work with him more, but Belle is too possessive. Of me, that is. All my attention has to be on her or she tries to take over. Dominant personality is a pain to deal with. I know how to pick them now, there is a method, so next time I will get a more mellow dog.
I love animals, but Sturgis wasn't supposed to be. We agreed no more dogs.
Regardless of what I'm dealing with, I don't want another dog. Or cat. I like my outdoor animals, and I like that they work for their food. Even without giving me eggs, the chickens can give me meet, fertilize my garden and get rid of bugs. And I can usually leave them for a while without having to worry about them. Ha ha! I just can't bring them to a kennel!
Dogs are a lot of work. When Belle dies (she's 11 now), I will consider getting one more dog. We had Rhodesian Ridgebacks when I was a kid. Love those dogs and would like to try one of my own that would be socialized to out in public, rather than being a farm dog. They are big, but have super short coat, so easy care that way.
