hey all, I'm okay and still hanging in there! Oma and I took Wrangler to visit her Dad on Father's Day... that wiped me out, boomerang day trip to Vermont. considering that I was still hanging from eating something with yeast in it. stupid me... but I wanted to see if it would still happen. and it did.
anyway, I go for a gut MRI in 2 weeks, teetering on the 102 lb -103 lb range, trying hard to stay above 100... going to work everyday is kicking my butt, Wrangler has so much energy and she wants me to do so many things and I feel dreadful because I just cannot. we do a lot of drawing and play Go Fish and Crazy 8's and Old Maid... she's bored and that makes me feel worse. her Oma will take her to the playground in a few minutes so I can get some rest, maybe let the flock out for a few hours... since they're fenced, it's a lot more relaxing. Wrangler can come enjoy them with me when they get back. burn off some of that crazy energy first...

I haven't been shutter bugging like normal, but have been trying... I'm determined to continue doing the things I enjoy/love as much as possible for as long as possible, but permanent disability has hit the table. my PM took one look at me and asked me if I really should be working. I said Yes, but I know... I'm a liability at this point. I have a doc appointment on Tues and will see what he has to say.

Quote: That's a heck of a lot better than the "sexed" EE pullets coming out of the hatcheries! I bought 2 EE chicks 4 yrs ago and 2 last month. 2 cockerels, 2 pullets.

I really know how to pick 'em. 50%

You have an 80% chance of it being male.

Of course, since I'm saying cockerel, your chances are more 50-50.

Hope it's a pullet. Mine lays nice reddish brown speckled eggs.
Do you notice it standing more upright? That was the first clue on my new EE cockerel

that made me suspicious. Comb turned pink week and a half later.

I have them crowing at 2 weeks old sometimes--definite and funny sounding sign of it being a cockerel.

The same thing happens with SG Dorkings. Someone on that thread posted today that they were supposed to get 2 cockerels but got 4 instead. Vent sexing is the best way to tell but only hatcheries are reliably good at that method.

I was wondering if the auto brewer's would reverse if you kept on that diet. Guess not. Did the drs say anything about that, or are you stuck with it once you get it?

Maybe some time off work would be good for you, though it seems like that might drive you a little bit crazy.

Hope you get some answers soon. I have this extra 50 lbs hanging around that I sure don't need. Wish I could give it to you! Half of it?

Hatched 6 Seramas this spring and 4 were cockerels! One was obvious the first week. Very upright, stance. He just looked and acted cockerel. All the other chicks ran away from my hand but he ran toward it (for snuggles). Pink comb the second week and crowing the 3rd. It's weird when they crow and they still have chick fuzz. He was the friendliest chick. Loved being held. Personality stayed with him. Thinking of keeping him and one tiny brother.
