Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

So... I had 2 home eggs left and I used 2 store eggs. Gag. :sick My yolks were nice and big and orange. The Costco “organic free range” were small and yellow. I added a lot of cheese to it. I need to find a local chicken lady.
The best eggs I can get are trader joes fertile eggs. They do not have them at every Trader Joes though.

I have hatched those egg and the are better tasting than most store eggs

Well, it’s 4am and I’ve been up since 2.
My boss has Nemaline Myopathy and has decided to shut down the lab. It’s for the best for him.
I’m stressing out. Health insurance is a huge concern. What to do?

On another note, Wonky aka Frizzy is half Frizzle and half ?. I have no clue when her POL is. She is about 16-17 weeks old and her comb is still pink, so..... I got some waiting to do.
We don’t have a Trader Joe’s here. :hit

I am sorry about the job situation! Last year they changed our long term disability insurance program here. For me, If I went into long term disability I would be better off retiring. I would get the same health insurance and about 10% more in income.

Will there be a severance package for you? Is it possible for someone else to rung the Lab?

Oh dear. That kind of stress is not a good Christmas present. :( Hope you can find another position. :hugs

Still pink at 16-17 weeks is not unusual in my experience. Most of mine started closer to 25 weeks. I bet being a summer hatchling is slowing development too... shorter days with less sunlight. She might even end up starting after the solstice, late winter/early spring, when the daylight hours increase. I'm lucky to get 2 eggs a day now from my 4 spring pullets.

Ron, I am the only technician left. I could run the lab alone, but I have health issues also. Also, I don’t think that it would be financially feasible for them to do that.
I could possibly get SS and unemployment. I need to look into it.
Well.... tomorrow we go hunting again. We need one more deer.

I have a confession to make. I took a chicken to the vet.

One of my little Serama hens had something wrong with her eye. I noticed it over a month ago when we had to evacuate from the fires. Everything else about her was normal, but her left eye was closed, and she had peck marks on her comb. Not sure if pecking caused the injury or they were after her since she couldn't see on that side. Isolated her with a friend and was trying eye wash and Vetericyn eye gel for a few weeks. The eye got a little better, mostly opened, so I returned them to the coop. About a week later, her eye was really bad, getting swollen and looking a little cloudy. :( This girl is quite the little pet, so I decided to see if there was some way to save her. Vet was great. He checked her out and I got antibiotics and eye drops for her. After just a few days, the swelling is gone, and the eye is starting to open up.

Sadly, I think she lost vision in the eye. Hope she will be able to return to the flock. It's kind of sad... every time I go out to check on her, she mama clucks and tries to feed me! She's lonely. I will bring her friend down for awhile after she gets better before they go back up to the coop.

She will likely be fine. They can do ok with one eye
