Thats 195 birds only 2 goats and 3 pigs. You desperately need some "balance" in your life. Go get some more goats and pigs....

I found a neat hard boiled egg design, my eggs are cooling, and the supplies are waiting... a paper plate, a chopstick (or a pencil) and 2 rubber bands.

Valentine eggs!!

LOL I love the sign! 1 dog, my pug mix Sadie, a few assorted barn cats. Alpaca were rehomed when we went thru rezoning, only to find out we could have kept them later.

I can have up to 3 cows without them tho, so I am within the "rules" when we get them. The couple that adopted them have horses, and the boys took to the lady right away, even comet was letting her pet his neck.

5 today! Woohoo! Omg omg two blue eggs! Agh!

And I noticed something today. My EE, who's amercauna and GLW, has yellow legs but has a beard. Gah! I've had her for like a month? And just noticed. Curse you baby brain.
All my crosses from the GLW are yellow legged except the BR cross. Loved the eggs!

the Perma Wee Boys are having a blast exploring the big lilac, it's nice and cool inside the plant and the baths inside are nice and cooling as well, I watched one of the little reds get serious with the dirt... it's the little d'Uccles who crow, I have to record it along with the Big Boys, it's precious. there are bantams roosters up the street, I hear them all the time, mine are cuter... cuz they are mine...

Have a farmer wanting to trade for my pigs... 2 cows, strongly considering it! They will be on grain or close to it, 150 pounds or so. Waiting for pics from him to decide. Beef wins over pork in my book anyday

Beth, the JG that had the last brood began laying today. My other JG is still wanting to brood for the third day in a row. I just have too many chickens!!
SBM, I only noticed that the other brood (the BR's brood) has a white chick with slate legs. Kinda hard to miss something like that, but I did! She is the only new chick I want to keep.
Are you guys saying an EE can have yellow legs? I am sure I knew this stuff a year ago. Haven't used the knowledge, so I have to re-learn now. <sigh>

Then I hear something and i think, DUH! I knew that!
Some of my EEs do have yellow and almost white legs, They are EE/GLW cross. But I have no history on Bunny, so who knows where/what she came from as a chick.
I have some Pure Ameraucana in the incubator now, so will do a cross with a hen if i get any.. let you know in like six months

My Bunny has the greenish/slate legs, buff and blue color in her feathers. I just love the way the cockerels are looking, they are just gorgeous.

my pure white EE has pale yellow legs with a white wash, very pretty, the rest of my EE's have greenish to slate legs...

Chester got out this morning, almost had him when he stopped to pee... now he's in the back acreage, woofing his fool head off, I can't see him tho' and I have to leave for work n 25 minutes... I gotta have at least a little coffee... I'm getting dizzy looking... I'm so tired and it's so hot already... today is the last of the super hot days in this wave, it's supposed to storm like crazy tomorrow and drop back into the upper 70's.

back out on the search for Chester.

any more pips, Sally? any zips? can't wait to see pics!

I caught Chester, and was only a few minutes late for work... phew! he made the circuit that we walk everyday, with a few hundred additional yards of new territory, but he came back... he was down at my neighbors mailbox... I hollered his name, and "Come", spread my arms wide, crouched down, and he came bounding over! I'm so relieved... I know he was beaten, punished, never rewarded... afraid of how people would react to him... and in 2 short weeks (if that), he knows me well enough that he has no fear anymore. he was only on his own for 30 minutes... rather remarkable that he came back so quickly, but then again... he hadn't had his breakfast yet

it's so insanely hot, the heat index has the temps near 1008 in the elevation, closer to 106* in the flat land, my cousin wants me to go swimming with him down at "fat man falls", it's such a great spot, nice waterfall, one deep swimming hole, and one huge semi shallow swimming hole... I'd love to, but I can't until later, it's too hot for the chickens, I have to keep watch... they're going through gallons of water every hour... I filled up Mylee's kiddy pool and dragged it into the shade just so I don't have to keep hauling it during this hottest part of the day...

10 eggs so far
