Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Five?! Where are the other 277? I like the one where baby is sitting on big sister. Peach is an amazing mother to let the older ones around like that. Wonder if she'll accept those those Marans babies too.

I'm getting there! lots of them are series of rapid burst rounds of 20...

she already did accept them! she's so amazing! she has them ALL crammed underneath...

Whoa, that was one of the Marans chicks? I was thinking it was a kid chick from a previous hatch. Peach is a broody machine!

Ok is it just me or is 13 weeks to young to start squatting? About 3 of my GC started squatting when I reach for them.....
Seems very early, but squatting is not eggs. Maybe they are just heightening the expectation to torture while you wait. Perhaps they are taking lessons from Someone we know on this thread....

I was not able to get a clear picture of Isis, but she looks worse than Betty, her back is about the same, but she has no tail feathers either. Betty's neck is regrown, she was looking like Spot, very thin hackle feathering

Blossom on the left, has lost a lot of hackles, Rose, on the right... just bald at the base of her back

Blu, where you see fluff on her back... was all pins yesterday, she's had the most noticeable regrowth of all over the last week

Olive, the big bare pink spot is from where she lost her top knot. when the injury was new, it was closer to the top of her head, and it was nasty! she's gotten some small new feathers up top, but she's lost a few hackles this week.

that's it for Penny. so far anyway... just one little spot

Same for Royce, just a little "male pattern" going on behind his ears

Wilma and Peach already went through their molt and are gloriously feathered. the rest of the gang is looking good. Wish I could have gotten a shot of Isis...

Quote: That's kinda what I was thinking! I am actually hoping that they don't start laying for at least a few more weeks! I am taking my 4 kiddos on a trip to see my aunt in Ohio. We are going to be leaving Wed. morning and won't be back until the 18th. Hubby is staying home with the dogs and the chickens, plus a friend is going to come by and check on them and let the dogs out around lunch on the days that Hubby is working. (He's taking next week off to do some stuff around the house without us being in the way) So, probably very few post and no pictures from me for awhile!

On another note, Bertha has had a bald spot right above her tail.... When I took some kitty chow out as a snack this evening I was able to look at it closer than what I normally can. She is pretty flighty and won't get too close. It doesn't look like it has any new feathers coming in, and has been bald for several weeks. Do you think she is just molting and taking a while to get new feathers or is Doodle keeping her featherless? She is the only one looking ragged, so I am assuming that it isn't mites ect. I guess I need to catch her (thats going to be hilarious!) and look her over good to make sure I don't see anything.

Cheeka, I liked you already on it, but add the picture "I've got no eyes' and the one w4w mentioned...I think those are great ones.

thanks so much Sally! repost the other one if you don't mind, I can't figure out which one W4W was talking about, sitting on sister - the group shot with the Silkie in the middle? I know the other one... with it's eyes closed... I think that one is a little blurry, but I could be wrong... it just was so cute with the caption...
