Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Oooo, mortie, can I borrow her? We have been having mice in the house this year. They keep showing up under the kitchen sink after exploring my cabinets

and I've been trapping them, but I could really use a Huntress like her. Is she house trained?

cheeka, I hope you get a break from work soon! Good to hear your mite problem seems pretty minor. The mites have been terrible around here this year. So many complaints from people on the local thread. I've been doing major battle with red roost mites in the bantam coop. Finally seem to have got them under control, but had to resort to drastic measures (Frontline on all the chicks and chickens, and the coop got a massive dose of flea spray). I couldn't stand seeing those mites, swollen red with blood, coming off of the baby chicks!

Makes my skin crawl just thinking of it.

the crazy work schedule is due to end on July 22. good. because my left eye has been twitching, today is the start of day 6 and it's super annoying. barely up, sipping my coffee and twitch twitch twitch. I've been so exhausted I'm way behind on my housework again. only managed to get the kitchen cleaned up last night. I have a mountain of laundry and I'm supposed to have company tonight. ugh. I'm sorry to say this, but I hope something comes up and he can't make it.
the flock is loving the cool down - it's supposed to last for a week.

I'm loving the cooler weather! I'd be happy with this until the W- season gets here! We did lots of cleanup around here last night but we still have lots to do. We have a couple of small brush piles and a massive one from clearing the land for our house that we need to get burned but its too dry to do it right now. Hopefully we can get it this winter while there is snow on the ground...... until then we are just burning little bits in the fire pit at a time.
Hubby mowed some in front of the coop last night and they were out for several hours last night. I went to lock up and Bitty was missing. I recounted, looked in the run and the other coop and around the yard. Nothing...... I figured something had happened to her. So I go to get the eggs because i I had forgotten my bucket earlier and she screamed at me from the nest where I had put all the eggs. I will admit I jumped and squealed a little bit. Lol, so I think she may be thinking about brooding again.... after 8 eggs this time.

No eggs yet and I may have messed the chickens up. I took advantage of the cooler weather and built an extension on to the coop to give them an extra 6 feet to spread out in when they are not roaming around the yard. I hope the build and noise didn't set them behind even more in laying. We also built a tractor yesterday for the silkies. We are adding a blue silkie cockerel to the mix for the 3 white silkie girls.

Well I just don't know what I'm going to do. Whatever it is, I'm sure it will hurt me more than it hurts them. I tried to indicate how disappointed I was but I don't know if my message is getting through to them. While cleaning the run, I found this, partially buried in the corner. I would take a picture but it's really hard to read. This is what I could decipher:
