Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

I meant dirty chicken butt eggs. Amazing how my phone thinks it knows what I mean to say better than I do. We went on an annual pilgrimage today and I took a couple of crummy pictures into order to pretend to be as good as Cheeka...

The babies Mortie. It's hard to get a picture of them all without one making a weird face...
Beautiful pictures and kids Mortie!! Stargazers are my favorite flower!!

I got home from work about an hour ago and....

Thank you Smoke.

Mortie, trust me, those "not perfect" pictures of your kids will be the most special in 20 years. I wish I had a series of pictures like that, what a great idea!

I predict Lucy will lay her 6th tomorrow and take a break. Then by Sunday I will get 2 in one day. We shall see.

So I get up this morning at 7 and I stumble out (literally. Stumble.) to see what's going on in the nest boxes. My expectation is that I will find Penny's egg because I can never get up early enough to catch her laying, and Wilson's will come along later.

Open the box and find Wilson's egg and nothing from Penny. I scoop up Wil's and toss them some food (feeder's in the shop) and I give Penny a disapproving look. I go in the house and put my egg in the holder and continue to the sink to get a drink and out the window I can see Penny. Hopping into the box. Really?! If she'd have done it 20 minutes earlier or I'd slept 20 minutes or so longer, I would have had my first 2 eggs at a time collection. Bah humbug. At least it looks like we'll be getting 2 eggs today. Yum!

Mom was so proud she made us two pies
So we gave her a mighty surprise
After a big day of laying nine
We then laid eight, which was might fine!

Either I have a very prolific Polish layer, which I have heard is kind of unusual, my Leghorn is laying peanut sized eggs. We have been getting either one a day or every other day for the past week. You can see on my skelter how much smaller they are:

@mortie Yea for 2 eggs! One step at a time! Adorable kids!!!!
