Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Welcome Talonstorm! and congratulations for a perfect pullet egg! it's so exciting and I would love to see some pics of your girls - especially the EE, I have lots of EE's and I adore them all!

woo hoo TN! wonder how they are hatching so early... could they have started incubating where they were stored prior to setting? I'm so happy for you and can't wait for fluff pics!

nuttyboo!! a triple!! I have had one triple yolk myself - and I really thought it was a double, so I just set the camera for still photos after cracking. when I cracked it tho', the spilling contents amazed me! 3! I was so upset that I hadn't video'd... the sploosh was something to see! so, since then, whenever I have a ridiculously large egg, I video. but it's only ever been doubles since, and sometimes, a humongous single. a chick hatching from one of those might decide to stay in the shell for an extra week... so much room and so much food... why rush things...??? lol (either that, or what hatches might be like Baby Huey

I meant for the littlest ones to get first dibs, but it didn't work out that way...

I felt so sorry for that little one...

so I put it in the igloo.

I wish this one was a pullet. he is the sweetest little guy... if he can't find his Mama, he finds me. he knows I will take him to her. most of the time, she's laying her egg... but today, he couldn't find her because she was in my arms. he was so happy to find her, he climbed up too. BB Mama will walk right into my arms for a hug - I will strive to always have Orpingtons, BB and her sister, are extremely sweet tempered, large and lovely...it would be fun to have a few color varieties...

10 Eggs today

I'm not sure why 3 hatched already. They are EE's and cute! Tonight was the original lockdown. I've got an olive egger moving and a true ameraucana wiggling too! I will post pics soon was they are dry and fluffy.

EEs hatch early and if the temp was slightly high, the will hatch very early.

Yes i have read that about temps. It never got over 100 and stayed at 99 almost the whole time
What thermometer are you using? It only take a .5 degree increase to do this. Most thermometers people use are not accurate at that level.

Nice pics, cheeka. And nice snacks too! The chicks are getting big.

This guy is cute. An EE? Can't tell the sex from the picture, and wondering how he is giving himself away as a male. Any chance he's a keeper?

his comb has been pink for weeks already, this is the one that is a full 3 weeks behind the first batch, Big Broody Mama's one and only chick... all the chipmunk patterned turned out to be boys. all of them. I think that EE Royce crossed with the Buff Orp's results in a sex link. I do not know who the egg contributor was for the one I named Lilac. she was a plain brown chick, but now is really feathering in beautifully. could be that she's the female of the sex link, or she came from a BR, a WR or a NHR, but I don't think it was the NHR, I think the cockerel I named Strawberry is a NHR... anyway, this baby is a sweetie. it will be a wrench to let him go, although, if I get rid of the D'Uccles, I'll have room for him. I have someone interested in pullets from the latest hatch, trouble is, I don't have them sexed yet and I want to keep them

so, handyman is out back building the roof frame. I'm so tired, and can't snap out of it, but I'm heading out to help! (read, take pictures...)
