Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

I don't think they allow chickens in the building...

Get a diaper for one and make up a service chicken sign...to help with anxiety....

Good morning. I got up with a major headache... :( I needed to go to the grocery store but it is going to have to wait.
Abby is having surgery tomorrow to fix her umbilical hernia. It is small but they said since it hasn't closed by now it won't by itself. I am waiting on a phone call to see what time we have to be there. I hope it is early so I won't have to tell her she can't eat or drink. That would be difficult for a 4 year old. She knows they are going to fix her belly button and isn't nervous at all...... unlike Mommy....

Eww I had a headache yesterday. No fun.

I'm sure the surgery will be a piece of cake and she'll have a fantastic belly button ;)

3 brown eggs today. First time since oct. It was maddening when Maggie started back up and Wilson decided to stop after laying great all winter. Midge is still holding out on me. Hedwig is molting so who knows when she'll lay. The question of hte day is will Shadow come through and make it a 4 egg day? First one in like 5 months?

Lynn - I put straw in mine and that really helped with their reluctance to come out after it has snowed. I also have found the snow melts a little faster when it falls on the straw. Probably because of the increased surface area.

Well...

So far it's been a 4 egg day. But not in the way you would expect. No one checked for eggs yesterday afternoon so I went out to check in the evening after the girls had gone to bed. It was well after dark. I collected one egg. A blue one. The nest box was empty.

This morning at 7, I collected 2 brown eggs. One was Wilson's and one was Maggie's. Those were the only 2 eggs. With the way my coop is, it's not possible to miss an egg, or have one be buried, or anything. There's not a lot of straw in the box and I am 100% sure there were no missed eggs. Later, around 11 am I went out and collected Penny's egg, still warm. Okay then, 3 brown eggs. 100% for the reds, good girls. I was hoping shadow would make it 4.

I got a 4th egg when I just went out at 2 to check. But it was Maggie's again.

I know every once in a while someone posts about their bird laying 2 eggs in a day and everyone always says it's not possible, or they must have missed one or something. I am telling you I am 100000% sure that is not the case here. Mags laid two eggs today without a shred of doubt.

Nutty bird. Extra treats for you.
