Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Wouldn't you just know, I only had one egg left in the fridge so I bought a dozen to hold out until the hens caught up with the demand and today I went out and they'd laid a dozen eggs!! One was smashed so I only brought in eleven but it just figures, doesn't it. LOL!!!

OK... now that I am back to my abnormal self..... Cheeka. How did you break your toes?? That looks very painful.

It has been raining for days and days. Or so it seems. I let the girls out for a little swamp time. Rumples is still in her little box, but she is not growling at me, so I am not sure if the broody thought is a good one. She does talk to me. I don't want to take her out because of the rain. Maybe tomorrow...... DH says that if she is broody, she can have a chick to raise and love. It will be good for her.

You could cook and feed the girls the bought eggs for a treat. The girls deserve PIE when they lay well.

Me too. Running very low on my hoard of fresh eggs, we bought some store eggs before Christmas to do some baking, which ended up not happening. About a week later, we started getting eggs from the hens. The store eggs are still in there. Time to make cookies? Or PIE for the mob!

FOUR..... FOUR.... we laid FOUR eggs today!!

Rumples is still in her nest box. I felt her crop and it felt normal to me. No growling. Just her clucks and purrs.
Do all broodys growl when they are on the nest?? I remember last year when Rump hated me, she would growl and puff and strike like a snake when she got broody.

Midge sure growled when she was broody. She also pecked me when I stole her eggs.

I'm just going to give the store eggs to my hubby. He can't really tell the difference (I know, he has weird taste buds due to brain injuries) except that my flock's eggs have tougher shells. I'll probably bake something to take to a small wedding in the family where we are each bringing a dish instead of gifts.
