I'm going to get chickenwranglers guess on it. I bet she will tell me to line them up side by side and hold them at gunpoint until one of them takes a step forward. That will be the one who laid the egg.

She laid the egg afternoon today. I can't hang around during the day. I have to work. But yes that would tell me if I could just be there. Is that coverd under the "Family Leave Act"?

How old are your chickens? I'll tell you how long it will be before you need a psychiatrist. As far as when you will get eggs......I have no idea.

Actually, it will be the one that forgets to take a step back...bawwwk? Most chickens (except Easter eggers which defy all rules) lay eggs that match their ear flap color...true! Your first egg (how cute is that?) Will get a little darker ahd bigger in a few weeks or so (do not mark the Calender). YES you can certainly get fmla to stay home and watch to see who laid what egg....when you return to work just tell them you needed to sit in the henhouse waiting for a chicken to lay anegg, fmla approved! (Keep your laptop with you when they send the nice young men with their clean white coats so we can keep you up to date on the hens progress!)

Mine are only 2 weeks old (1 week old in the photo) so I'm in for the long haul.

And its way to late for the psychiatrist - I have four kids and do Family Day Care with another five kids for a living, so we're way beyond that!
