We had a perfect day!
Dad is happy and we're on our way
for treats and toys and goodies galore
he's taking us to Tractor Supply Store!

Carl wants meal worms
John wants corn
Chuck wants millet
and Roger is forlorn,
She wants a dress,
with pretty lace.
she doubts they have one
in that Tractor Supply Place...

The Golden Comets are quiet,
they've got laying down pat,
they'd be perfectly happy
with Scratch ~ a whole vat!

No scrimping tonight Dad
we're a deserving lot!
no need to buy eggs,
with all the eggs that you've got!

.......Come on cheeka.....sing with us.......

EIGHT .....ANOTHER PERFECT DAY

that totally makes me think of my little Granddaughter, Mylee who will turn 3 in October... she gets me on the phone, says real cheerily "Hi Omi!" and breaks into song... usually goes like this:

"Hi Omi! the itsy bitsy pider wen up da wada pout! down came da wain an wash da pider out... out come da sun an like a diamond in da sky an dats what you get for jumpin on da bed! Your turn Omi! you sing!" so I sing... while I'm driving down the road with the windows open, delivering the mail, and the old folks out tending their gardens think i'm nuts...

so... if i can do that... i can sing along with your chooks too!

sing to "I'm a little teapot"

These are my chickens, ranging on the ridge
they're laying eggs now, to fill my fridge
when they get ready, you hear them shout
You got 8 dad, now take us out! (to WalMart y'know...)

I know... I know... so very lame, but eh... i'm tired, it's kinda late

Speaking of grandkids I get to see my one and only take his his first steps (in person) when he gets here tonight. Then tomorrow morning he will get to meet "grandpa's chickens" so they better be "perfect in every way". My time will be limited for the weekend so not sure about the egg count, poetry, adventures of the knuckleheads, ect but "birds of a feather flock together" so I won't be gone long. You all are too much fun. One final observation I love it when grandparents see "old folks". Right there with you on that one.... lol Enjoy the weekend.

OK, that is so awesome, we all hope you and your Grandson have the most wonderful time together! we'll be here when you get back, eager to hear all the news of wobbly steps and excited chatter when he sees the chickens! my niece, who is now 12, is so much like her Mama... when she was walking, but not yet talking, she would put one fist on her hip, the other she would gesticulate with and say "Simi sam shoo lamee oh en goo ba da ah Ha ha ha ha ha!" and the laughter at the end, albeit higher pitch, was tonally exactly like her mom... what a riot!

and yeah... you've got a point with the old folks thing...

A perfect day! A perfect day! We smart hens are born to lay! Aren't we great! Aren't we great! We smart hens just laid eight! Who's that little child looking at us hens? Why I think it may be an alien! No, wait - to our surprize, they know we like to eat, Grand dad taught them well - they're bringing us treats!

That's my attempt! Haha. Apparently I can't form paragraphs or post pics anymore, since by changed the program...oh well. Cheek a, you have my long time dream job if you deliver the mail...I'm serious too. I try to remember to roll up my window bit you can't do that! Haha. I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Bravo ACW! that's not an "attempt".... it is terrific!

postal carrying is my "retirement" job... i did my 20+ years in management, but was technically too young to really retire... i should have 24 or so years in the PO when I really do retire... it's a great job, only 3 weeks in winter that is dreadful with ice, and 3 weeks in summer when it's just too darn hot... and i listen to audio books... it's like story time. and being that i deliver primarily in the Catskill Mtns, the views are spectacular, I have thousands of pictures of the scenery and animals, wild and domestic... it's really so much fun I kick myself for not thinking of it when I was much younger and stressed out in a job that I hated...
