Should I cage peahen and chick?

I had a first time mom stand in a rain puddle with her 3 babies all night on the ground, she had access to a shelter a foot away. I came out to find one drowned and the other 2 almost. I rescued them and they did recover but she just didn't understand what to do. Next year she was a wonderful mom. That's why I said they bear watching.

I have a chicken raising my thus far lone chick. Had some luck getting her to eat egg this morn and a June bug! :). This chicken mom is a bit clueless too, doesn't understand she needs to squat when baby is cold. So far she is excellent mom other than that, although she doesn't want to give best treats to baby. ;)

Ahh, glad mom got better with experience.. Left my hen with chicken eggs so maybe she can practice with them?
My chicken broody hens are multiplying and can't keep their eggs straight... But that is a different problem I'll let them work out..lol

Just makes me want to shake my head and go on. I have a ten hole metal nest box and two wooden boxes on the floor all occupied with my broody hens. I never know which hen will be in the same nest when I walk in, it is like musical nests without the music.
