Should I candle?

Today is day 21. No egg movement, nothing going on.....I’m wondering if I should candle tonight. When we went into lockdown on day 18, 7/8 were definitely alive and moving. Yesterday morning I saw one of the eggs rocking a little bit. No movement at all from the others. Would you just leave them be? Or would you candle?

I would definitely candle. Has your temp been correct? Calibrated thermometer? Look for internal pips.

It's not a big deal if there's no external pips. What I like to do when I open during lockdown is mist the eggs with warm water. It helps the humidity go back up faster.

I think I will wait for tomorrow to candle because I know for sure my temps were running low through most of it. If nothing by the morning, I will candle.

Whatever you feel safe doing, since I'm not physically there it's hard to help. Let me know what you see tomorrow! Low temps would definitely cause this.

I did a super quick candle of one egg. Very large air sack, and it was pecking at the membrane where the air sac is but hadn’t got through yet. Glad I saw some movement. So I’m guessing maybe just a later hatch due to lower temperatures. That put my mind at ease anyway.

That's a good sign. I would not worry if you have some day 25 or 26 hatchers. It's pretty likely. I would expect any for a couple days at least. Keep them in lockdown though. Glad you saw movement! Keep us posted.
