I currently have 8 have BR's on one acre (my first batch of turkeys) and one acre isn't enough. They were making daily visits over our 6' chain link fence to the neighbor's house. I wound up building a run for them and it's working okay but next time I am going to go the Broad Breasted route; hoping that I won't have the flight problem and also get to enjoy seeing them stroll around the yard foraging for bugs/etc. (Yes, I did the whole wing clipping thing and it didn't work for me.)

The BB turkeys I had were easily managed. They could only fly up to about a 3' roost. My 5 heritage birds use all of my 5 acres, along with my chickens.

I'll probably raise only 2 or 3, so if they are unruly and I have to confine them to a run, I think they will still have ample room to be happy.

I can't wait to hear how is goes for you. I think a lot more people could have turkeys in back yard settings but don't know it's possible.
