Should I get a pair of Welsummers?

Okay, so don't medicate them and keep separated for 35 days. I can do that. Is that why the "super bug" has come to light in humans, because we are using too many antibiotics? Just got me thinking,

To answer your original question - if you are looking for a breed that lays beautiful very dark brown eggs, then Welsummers will certainly fit the bill. They are also very pretty. Have you seen a picture of a mature roo? They're to die for!!!! I have a young roo and he is a big love bug - he'd ride around on my arm cooing to me all day if I'd let him. I know a couple of people that have adult birds and they say they are nice and calm.

I say, "Go for it!!!" LOL

Sorry no Roo pictures...not allowed to have them in the city! I would love to see some Roo pics!

The roos are beautiful, I got that Storey's Illustrated Poultry Breeds book and it has great pics of everything.

Get 'em, get 'em, get 'em!!!! You will LOVE the eggs! The dark brown eggs have speckles, and they are just beautiful. I've never had a roo, but I have heard that they are beautiful and I think I heard that they are good fathers, too!

Yes, that's why. And the US uses TONS of antibiotics in livestock. NOT a good idea, in the long run.
