Should I get Sebrights?

I've got a flock of heavy layers. I've seen pics of Sebrights and always thought they were nice looking birds, but I saw some at the county fair this week, and now I want some ...

Anyone out there keep a few Sebrights with larger birds? Do they get along in a mixed flock? Our pecking order is fairly calm, no problems with bullying, but our birds are all larger and there are no little ones to pick on.

Also, though I'm sure our bigger birds could easily get over the 5' fence we have around the area they free range in, none ever try, and they generally stay out of the trees. Do Sebrights tend to be fliers?

Thanks for any advice!

They fly HIGH! Across my 5 acres in fact into a tree... They get along fine with my EE's. Great but very noisy birds. Eggs are cute

Thanks. I thought that at their size, they're probably fliers. We've had no predator problems with free ranging, since our birds don't leap the fence and the BFD keeps bad things away ... but anything that gets over the fence is probably going to get eaten.

I suppose I could try that, but if they are good fliers, and *want* to fly, they might still make it over the fence.

I'll have to think about it ... I've only got layers (so far), and I'm still undecided as to whether to get Sebrights just because they're cute ...

Thanks for the advice.
