Should I give up on these eggs?

Thanks everyone! They weren't at 104.9 for more than 1-2 hours max, we were only gone long enough to take our car to be worked on and ride the bus home. Yesterday was day 14 from the first day she was sitting, so I'm only turning the coturnix eggs now. I had one burst, but I caught it right after it happened and the inner membrane was still closed just expanded so the shell cracked. I'm not getting my hopes up too much because even though it's easier with the water, it's not perfect. Been checking on it every 15 minutes or so all day.

I've done the floating container in a ten gallon with a water heater for an incubator twice before myself, though that was for turtle and then snake eggs.
I had two out of three hatch for me with the turtles and I forget the numbers for the snake eggs but it turned out well too.

I would put a lid on your container and control your humidity by how much moisture you introduce into it, or you may over saturate the eggs.
Good luck and let us know how it goes!

Cheers,
Jessie

I did wonder about that earlier today, because the thermometer in the brooder said 60% humidity before I turned it on this morning. (we have a swamp cooler) I just tilted the lid a little bit to add more airflow.

Just wanted to update that 3 buttons hatched last night! Still have 5 more but even if the rest don't hatch I'm not complaining. Woohoo!

Congrats on this hatch! I am sure they all had you on the edge of your seat all this time. LOL Good job!

Thanks! How much longer should I leave the rest of the button eggs?

I wasn't expecting any to hatch, was getting something out of the fridge friday night at about 11 and heard the chirping and it took me a while to realize where it was coming from because one of our cats were sniffing at one of the bedroom doors like it was coming from there. Only one hatched before bed, then the other two by morning.

I'm still turning the cot eggs through Wednesday, so it's no problem leaving them in there.

Give them at least 3 or 4 more days, just in case. You can always candle them to see if there is any life in them. If not, let them go a few more days and then pitch them if nothing hatches. :)

Awesome! I just had a nice one too, I bought 3 dozen eggs and have 90 chicks!

Surprisingly enough my phesants hatched 5-7 DAYS before the bobwhites. I think the majority of the quail ended up hatching on the 27th day

(Of course they did give me the rest of their eggs since the swap was about over but still a respectable 90%+)
