I haven't had a rooster in years, Llamachick. But, I'm going to assume by your name that you've got room for llamas, so you'd probably have room for a rooster. I really don't.
Each of my roosters was just fine, except for one. And, I think it was more my fault than his that we didn't get along. I just didn't want him.
Perhaps the rooster which was the least trouble (and the prettiest
) was a Silver Spangled Hamburg. They are known to be "flighty" but roosters stay with their hens. If you have slow, plump laying hens (like I always go for
), that really slows their rooster down, no matter what.
What I especially liked about Gabe was that he was a little guy. A lot of roosters are real aggressive with the hens. Heck, the hens outweighed Gabe by nearly double, I'd guess. He was boss and he was a standard Hamburg but probably didn't weigh more than 4 pounds. And, did I say he was real pretty
