Should I help

i have a magic fly incubator and waiting since 3 am last night so approx 17 hours now for my little Ancona duckling to continue pipping, I don’t hear a thing but I did see movement. The first pip seem to have broken the shell a tad but underneath I just see the membrane and not an actual hole even though the shell has a little crack and that piece of the shell is totally off. I’ve attached a photo. Should I assist this little one ? He/she doesn’t seem to be moving this last hour. No sound humidity is 79 %. Temp is 96.

I would not help unless it is after hatch day. 17 hours is still in the normal range, and pic looks good. If the hole was bigger and it could not progress on a zip then I help.

It’s day 30, I’ll hold on for now, I’ll check in the middle of the night(3 or 4 hours from now) for any changes, fingers crossed

I agree...I would not assist. I have actually quit assisting altogether with mine...I have found there is always a reason they can't hatch on their own..therefore have never had a successful healthy assist.

I’m pretty excited, went from not moving that I could tell to chirping and shaking intervals this morning yes. Hopefully it won’t be much longer

Wow such a couple of busy days around here not much sleep, but she finally hatched, after 48 hours, I went in the incubator with a sterilized twissors and broke off all the shell in a circle, I did a complete zip for her, after an hour she herself popped out her head, another hour or so went by and she was completely freed from her shell. Phew all is well, she is drinking and eating and sleeping, she looks great. She was actually just pipping the same spot for hours with the same hole, so happy I assisted. She would have never made it. Pure exhaustion for her and me then last night another duckling hatched at 5 not quite 24 hours old yet, her airsac was on the large side but she pipped and broke free unaided on the small end, little Elsa is having trouble walking and is flipping on her back, she cannot turn herself back around. Her feet and legs are quite big (white appleyard), any suggestions for helping her would be great. I’ve put brewers yeast in her food - 1 cup crumble and 1 1/2 T yeast.
