It looks a bit dry. I think he's fine. It shoupd hatch by this evening. It looks like he's made some progress since yesterday. Is he making yawning/chewing motions with his mouth?

Yes, he is doing that. I’m letting Jesus take the wheel on this one. I’m in no way prepared to become a chicken surgeon. Should I moisten the membrane? Because of his position in the bator i could probably do that with a q tip attached to a chop stick.

This is my first hatch and I am a first time chicken owner. I hope someday to have a hen like that.

Yes, but use cococunt oil instead of water. It keeps it moist longer. Sounds good. I'll pray he makes it ok! It really isn't that hard. With a little experience it gets way easier. Have you read the assisted hatching articles? Here's a really good one. I don't think he needs assistance yet though. Find something to keep you busy

Hey MGG, I just want to sincerely thank you and everyone else who replied to me at 4 am when I was completely anxious and not knowing what to do. My chick hatched on his own followed by 3 more. Thanks again so much and I am so happy to have found this community!
