Chick has been 'zipping' since sunday - should I help? UGH!

hi. i heard you should help them hatch after 24 hours of piping. i did to 2 babys and the yare healthy ..i broke just enought room so he could get out but dont take him out just make a hoole enough so he could get out.

Personally - I would help at this point. Take it slowly, chip little bits of shell away from the membrane at a time along the crack and see if the baby can't do the rest himself. I try to do this in the bathroom with the hot shower running for humidity in case the membrane has become adherent to the chick (shrink wrapped). If there is blood, stop the process and try again in an hour. After two days I feel the risk of the chick dying from exhaustion far outweighs any risk associated with helping it. Good luck!
 
Thanks for everyones input! I did end up helping and a very weak chick emerged after I help remove the 'top' of the egg. Chick wasnt able to move head.... but in the morning one very happy LOUD chick letting me know she was here!
