Baby seems to be resting ..I can see little heartbeat going strong on the open side of the egg ..but not pushing the shell out now.

I'll be up all night ..no doubt! Better go make a pot of coffee...

I got up ..after cat napping all night... and found that baby was not progressing or peeping anymore, so I grabbed the light and peeked in real good ...and baby started peeping like crazy and rocking, but nothing was happening..

On closer inspection, I could see that the exposed feathers were completely dry ..some even fluffy... and baby was kicking and flashing around in the egg, but still.. nothing was happening..

I decided to intervene.. and boy am I glad I did!

It took ME a better part of half hour or more to get this far, being meticulously careful to pick itty bitty pieces of shell with the aid of some temped water and my finger pads..

..another 15 minutes or so ..and we got a baby y'all!

She's carefully tucked away with "my girls" ..inside a piece of fleece blanky.. until she dries off and I can put her in the brooder.

I have one concern, though ...she has poo on her bottom ..and there was some in the shell that was stuck. Is this normal? Do I need to clean up her bottom?

She's peeping and peeping ..my DH is gonna love that my "anatomy" peeps at him!

when the next one starts hatching whistle to it and see if it hatches quicker. miss prissy said thats what she did wit one of her blue orpingtons. they truly respond to sound

I was whistlin' and singin' and talkin' my fool head off ...and baby was peeping in repsonse ..and trying to kick free, but it couldn't

Even when I got it out and started helping, it was kicking and flapping its little wings ..but couldn't get loose from the dried on membrane.

I think I'm gonna have to put a wet baby wash cloth inside the inc'y for the next 8 eggs ...I don't want them to all be stuck like this
