So my husband and i sell pigeons, some of yall know. So we sold a pigeon to a lady and then it had two babies with her pigeon and she decided she didnt want them, so she gave us all 4 birds back, the babies are only about 2 weeks old and now the parents dont want to feed the babies so i am hand feeding them.
Long story short this lady decides she wants them all back! I mentioned that i want to keep the babies because i know she cant care for them since she has a full time job and wont be able to hand feed them soi told her if i could stay with the babies and hand feed them till they are able to eat on their own. She was very upset about it. She is an animal hoarder and keeps the birds in a room and doesnt have a loft for them or a flight pen so i feel bad giving them all back, should i keep them or just give them all back? I dont know what to do, i want whats best for the birds.:barnie:he:hit

Please do not give the birds back to a hoarder.... please please do not. I just finished hand raising a baby and he is so sweet and attached to me. I couldn't bear to think of him going to that kind of home. Even the parent birds or any bird you care about should not be given into such conditions. Sorry to be so vehement but ....

I think you answered your own question. Keep them, or the chances are they will all die or live bad lives. I understand not wanting to upset someone, but she gave them to you. They are YOURS, you get to decide who gets them and who doesn't.

I know nothing about pigeons, the community, or this lady of course but... as a breeder/seller, I think it's your responsibility to keep these birds out of a hoarder's hands.

The minute she gave them back, they became your property - for you to do whatever with. These birds depend on you, and it sounds like they're much happier with you than they would be with her!

I would just be honest and say you wouldn't like your birds living in those conditions. If she gets mad then so be it.
Yes and if she gets mad she will do nothing for fear of being reported for her hoarding disorder. My neighbors had 30of 33 cats removed from the home by humane officers - much to the benefit of both cats and humans!

She gave up the birds. I think you are entirely justified in saying that if purchased birds are returned to you, they will not be given back to the buyer just because they change their mind. That indicates a lack of commitment to keeping the birds, and it makes no sense at all to play yo-yo with living animals.
