I have a bottle of Jack Daniels, 15 minutes and I will be numb, but then I better get someone else to lance it for me

I think I will put Icthamol on it in the morning and see if it will draw it to a head tomorrow and then if not will syringe it.

I agree with the boil,, could have gotten some bacteria in there and it's been cooking since then. Use moist heat to draw it, try and squeeze it UNDER the boil so when you spear it with the needle or whatever you use, it will push the infection up and out. I've gotten those and I don't go to the doctor unless it's just absolutely required. Then I call my dr.s office and make an appt. I ask for one as soon as possible so it's just a regular copay instead of an outrageous urgent care copay.

My daughter has auto- immune and gets boils alot. That looks like a boil. They are very painful. You can treat at home but if it gets bad the doctor has to lance it and let it drain. Be careful because you can spread a boil. I treat my daughters with draw out. You can buy it at walgreens or someplace like that. In fact I keep it on hand. They also will need to drain. So make sure you leave it able to drain. My daughter got one on her face, I am so worried it will scar.
The one we had a doctor lance and put her on antibotics was on her bum bum.

Don't be scared! It's a battle scar!! I've learned to love and accept all my marks...plus, there are hundreds of creams and gels that help reduce the appearance of scars. Mederma works really well.

I agree with post #25. It doesn't look as bad as it sounded. Wait til it gets a head, then do what Writer of Words said. Do you have any drawing salve on hand? If not use cooking oil. It works too.

I'ld self treat. I have a sebaceous gland that gets infected often. I usually take a warm soak and then put a bandaid with ichthamol on it. The next day I repeat. After a few days it usually brings it to a head and I lance with a large needle.

alright here is my opinion, although probably not popular. There is the red spot then there is some erethethema coming of it. I would draw a circle with a marker around it to the very end of the redness till you see true normal skin tone. then go to bed. If it is farther then the marker, you need to go to the dr my lady, if not then it is slowly getting better, the body has it isolated, and can probably handle it on your own, and I would NOT drain it.

If you drain it you risk spreading the infection, seriously and that can be crazy bad.

If the redness is swelling the dr will do it, he will cut it, and debride it, as the organism is going to be in further tissue, then since it is probably staph he will leave it open and pack it while you take oral antibiotics.

Staph is a gram positive organism, and while I'm definatly not a dr, any drugs like penicillian, or amoxicillian, or better yet Augmentin will wipe that baby away.

If its getting bigger and you don't go to the dr you risk the redness expanding, where it is likely to enter the blood stream and cause fever, and sepsis.

Now of course this is worse case. Draw a circle and go from there.

I heard there is a site out there of free or low income clinics that might be your best bet. boils can be serious business.
