That's what I was trying to say. Our good neighbor was a pistol of a woman, always busy, always working. Now she can barely get around in her own home.

You are so very right.....infection can ruin the life as you now know it if you let it progress. A co-payment is minimal compared to other possible outcomes.

It is not just a co-payment, because we never get ill, we do not meet our deductible, which means besides the $30 co-pay, I will be billed for the entire amount. I simply can't afford it, I have been unemployed for 1 1/2 years, we are squeaking by,especially this week when it is only my measley unemployment. After leaving icthamol on it all day, it appears to be coming to a head, I am betting boil. I am going to put the icthamol on it again tonight and see if that will help it.

I ended up going to the ER, I borrowed money from my mother to go.
Basically since it was a puncture wound, what happened was that it healed on the outside but was still an open pocket on the inside and of course just collected fluid.
It was opened up and is draining and I have meds. DR told me I could have opened it myself and of course after paying the co-pay ($100) as it was considered a Non Life Threatening Emergency and over $100 at the pharmacy I am gleefully awaiting the bill (NOT) It was remarkably better yesterday and is 100% better again today.

I could have saved $200 plus bucks, lanced it myself and probably been fine without the stinking drugs.

Our insurance covers nothing either. We pay over 5k a year in hopes they will cover us during any major medical stay.

I generally try to treat at home.3 day rule works most times. If no improvemnt is seen in 3 days it is off to the doctors. Ofcourse I tend to fret far more with the kids than me and would take them often if I could...but we just can't.

Speedy healing!

A book that I came across by Janet Zand(among others) lists alternative and conventional treatment options for a wide array of health issues.

I have the kids book too. Very useful since it gives so many options to try.See if your library has it or through interloan.
