Should I leave food in coop at night?

note the responses from people who live in a similar climate may be of most importance to you. I did only feed and water them outside, but this week when winter came with a certain brutality the chooks would NOT come out of the coop. So I have just put water and food in the coop 24hrs. I really didn't want to, especially since I bought a heated water bowl for outside (only $10 on CL) but I can't use it in the coop (too much spilling). But here we are, 2 days of snow and wind and near brutal temps, They have not set 1 foot outside. If the temps stay in the 20-30's they love to go out, but below that...inside all day! looking forward to warmer temps tomorrow so I can get them out and clean out the 2 days worth of poop.

How lucky you are to have the baby monitor set up - I would love to hear my girls talking after I put them in the coop

Food and water 24/7 here. I even put a small feeder and waterer on the counter at night so the girls don't have to jump all the way down to the floor to the hanging feeder and waterer. Very spoiled chickens
