Hi all, I’m back with a new question
I have a run that measures 23x12x7. About 1/4 of that houses my Cemani flock of a rooster and 6 laying hens. The rest of the run houses 20 pullets.
I just cleared my largest portion of the run of 6 cockerels, so the girls have had a couple days of peace. I let them all out in the yard together today and let the Cemanis investigate the big run, and visa versa. The rooster was pretty calm , and the hens checked a couple of the pullets, but it was all very smooth .
My question is - should I give them all access to go back and forth between their runs? I have always felt bad that the Cemanis didn’t have more space, but that is how the run was built, and I also inherited 4 Cemani hens I wasn’t anticipating. I’m not looking for 24hr access, and I would only do it while I was monitoring. I had cut a hole in the siding and have a pallet covering it. I’m attaching pics.
Thanks for your opinions.
