First off, I love this store. and I would have never even found it if someone else on this site mentioned it. So I'm passing on the praise for the store.
Second, I just bought a gallon on red paint specifically meant for interior/ exterior barns, fences, touted as non toxic for all livestock, poultry, etc. I wasn't planning on a barn red coop, but it seemed like too good of a deal to pass up for $8.99
Third (and the point of the post)... There was a decommissoned old shed out in the back of the store's parking lot....the guy said it was an 8x10 shed created out of OSB board. The interior piece of wood looks like OSB while the outside had that "paneled" look, and was already primered. There were even deck block piers, which I would be using. All said and told, $30.
Now i've done my research, and I was planning on plywood from CL.... 1/2 inch for the sides, 3/4 for the bottom.
I'm wondering if I should just keep looking for plywood, or jump on the OSB? it's already been used, it's not as hardy. My coop
is only going to be 5x5, so I'd have wood left over, made me think I could even double up the OSB to make the walls thicker (floor is still going to be plywood). Was thinking that I could score some 3/8 plywood and couple it with the OSB?
I was, of course, going to paint both the interior and exterior of the coop (the outside will be barn red, naturally). If I'm going to do it, I wanted to buy the OSB and have them stored in my garage so they're protected from the elements until I actually build the coop!
