Should I pounce on this Habitat-for-humanity Restore OSB 8x10 shed?

Sounds like exactly what we are looking for! We need a seperate coop for my daughters growing 4h projects lol. Why can't I get lucky like that?

I would so jump on that fast! I used Hardie board for my 12' x 12' shed, and I paid $34.00 a sheet for it new.

my coop was built with osb. the exterior was covered in tarpaper and vinyl siding (thank you darling husband). the interior floor was covered in cheap sheet linoleum for easy cleaning. the interior walls aren't covered or treated and stay pretty clean - with the exception of cobwebs.

if the exterior is osb i think you need to weatherproof it somehow. it does not hold up well to weather unless it is well coated with paint. my pop-out nestbox is exposed osb but it has about 5 coats of exterior paint and is somewhat covered by the roof overhang. you can check out the construction on my page.

habitat for humanity is an awesome resource for inexpensive building materials. many byc'ers use it for coop supplies. i bought an awesome utility sink there for my garden (washing up veggies) for a few bucks and I don't think it was ever even used. you got an awesome score with the "used" paint. $30 for a used shed - go for it!!! you couldn't even come close to building one for that. and if you do your "chicken math" properly, you'll appreciate having the extra space!

We used OSB inside our coop, and I painted it with a mixture of colors of leftover latex gloss enamel paint, which gave it a shiny, very easy to clean surface. It's great. I would jump on that deal!

Me and my dad built a shed in wisconsin about 30 years ago and primed it and used good paint on it and it still looks great today. I built my coop with osb and painted it up and its great .
