should I put fake eggs in nesting boxes???

I use golfballs and the girls seem to have gonnen the nest box thing almost immediatly.

Ive always used fake eggs in the nests. If your close to a Cracker Barrel they sell brown and white ones for a 1.29 i think. I suggest spraying them with clear spray paint to make them easier to clean.

Its been 2 days now that my girl heather has been laying her 1 egg a day in my neighbors yard with a loose dog the first day i had no idea where she was laying but 2 day i kept watch and found her new nest... I ABSOULETLY DON'T WANT CHICKS!!! She is a feral hen that wandered into my yard so now i have a boy & a girl!!! Ever since she's been laying i have collected her egg daily do u think she's pissed that i am taking her eggs away & could it be the reason she's laying elsewhere??? I want her to lay her eggs in my yard!!!! I don't care where in my yard anywhere but outside my yard... Please help! Thanks

Hello Everyone
I have made a nestbox out of a styrofoam cooler with some dead weeds & put 2 of her already laid eggs in it to get her to lay there but not sure if she will lay there... Oh i hope so i would hate to see her get attacked by this dog!!! So far i managed to keep that dog away while she's laying... Thanks!

Only put in fake eggs if you don't mind being able to find your real eggs, really easily. I think it's more fun to hit an egg, that has been hiding in the tall grass, in 90 degree heat and has gone bad, with the lawn mower. You won't forget that fun time. Neither will your neighbors for blocks and blocks away. People you have never met will know your name.

It's almost like being famous, only without people always asking for autographs.

Oh dear had to laugh at this one, hop we never have this problem of being famous
