Should i put sand in the run or coop or put it in both?

Hi! Can anyone tell me if i should put sand in the coop or run?

I have sand in my run and shavings in my coop but I guess you could put it both places. I do have a droppings pit under the roost which has sand in it - very easy to clean up the poop with one of those kitty litter scoops. My girls only use the coop for sleeping and laying eggs so the shavings rarely get pooped on.

We have sand in out coop and it is awesome....so easy to clean. Our run still has grass in it...the girls haven't killed it all yet but I am thinking sand in the run if we need to do something about no grass.

Anyway, I love love love the sand in the coop
