Should I put straw down on this surface?

Hi All, my ducks spend most of the day out of their pen free roaming. They do have little naps and lay on the ground in their pen at times. It is a little muddy and messy, would you leave the ground as it is or provide straw and top it up every day?

If the majority of the pen is covered, and the ground is sloping away, then it should be fine, but in any other scenario, I would say no.
