should I remove the early hatchers or not *UPDATE* I decided to remove

i agree with others, after 48 hours maybe slip them out real fast. idk what kind of bator you have, but maybe put a thick towel over them opening and slip your arm in. i built my own, and when i turn them, i put the towel of the top, slip the top off, then turn the eggs. i never really lose heat or humidity. its my first hatch too. day 7 is tomorrow! but you might want to do the mist with warm water too just to be carefull. and CONGRATS ON THE BABIES!! we will NEED pictures asap!

Cool, I was really needing this advice

I had 6 in the small Brinsea 20 that had hatched yesterday to a few hours ago. The newest hatchers were getting pecked alot by the 'oldest' ones.
I think they were thirsty and of course hungry.

I half lifted the top, grabbed the babies and the dried out sponge, tossed in a new wet sponge and the incubator went right back to 66% humidity.

One reason I thought it was a good time, none of the other eggs had pipped so no open membrane exposed.

I have 10 more eggs in there but I think 3 or 4 are duds. The rest looked good. I think they are just taking their time. This is day 21. Some were early, some are going to be late.

The perfect 6 babies are huddled up in the brooder soaking in the warm.
OO cool, I just heard a peep from inside the incubator. No way would I have heard that with those huligans in there with it.

I take them out also. I have a small spray bottle that I put warm water in. I take out the chicks and mist the eggs that are still in the bator and the humidity stays right up there...

Alright, I opted for the "snatch and grab". It was like NASCAR efficiency. I had my daughter standing by with a box and I quickly scooped all 14 out of the bator and grabbed as many empty shells as I could and shut the bator. In less than 5 minutes the temp and humidity came back to normal levels.

I put them in the brooder and they made themselves at home.

So far I have:

2 BLRW - From BYC user Harley's girl
3 Salmon Faverolle - also from Harley's girl

I also have 9 Mille Fleur d'Uccles from BYC user wwmicasa1 shipped from California to Ohio.

What is left in the bator is 2 Salmon Faverolle, 2 BLRW, and 2 Mille Fleur d'Uccles.
