by Regina, you?Sure! Where abouts are you?
Straight North just over 4 hours! By Nipawin area!
okayWe won't be going to Regina much since so long a drive. But we are going there with a large order mid April! The lady is getting a large amount of mixed heritage as well as purebreds but I think I can try for more mixed chicks for your order then too!
As when we make the trips we don't charge fuel charges so only get to Regina maybe once a month or so!
okay will try that thanks for the supportYou've just gotten them to POL. Seems like a huge waste to butcher them now. I would bust a few bales of hay and straw out in the run, kick them out and see if you can change some behavior issues. Sell or process half. Start replacement chicks in the fall so they can mature in the winter. You might be fighting a loosing battle but don't throw in the towel too quickly.
the thing is i really don't want to get rid of them there my first every chickens i got, so i really don't want to start over with them its just now am thinking of selling a few and maybe making a new coop for some heritage birdsI know your grandfather or whoever may want to butcher them, but my frugal soul just cries out at butchering a point of lay pullet. I can sell those birds for $20 each all day long----so not worth it to me to butcher them. Sounds like you really want to replace them with another breed, and that's fine. They're your birds, do what you want with them. I'm just saying you can get a lot more return for your investment if you sell them than butcher them at this point. At my prices, even if you gave a quantity discount, you'd still be looking at around $400 for the lot of them. You can treat grandpa to a real nice dinner for that, still have money left to purchase your Orpingtons or whatever breed you want to go with, and stash some for feed![]()
