Should I separate the two small chicks?

I have 16 chicks that are 6 days old. Two chicks, one with recurring pasty-butt, and one with weak leg, are much smaller than the others. The small ones are not being picked on, and seem to get along well with the others. Do I need to separate them if everyone is behaving? Also, any advice about the chick with the weak leg? It walks, but not far before lying down. Thanks!

I wouldn't separate them if everyone is getting along. If you do have to separate them, get a small clear tote or box and put in the big brooder with the others so they can all still see each other and no one will get lonely.

When I have to separate my chicks or chickens, I attach what I like to call a "chicken condo" to my brooder. I just cut holes in two boxes and staple wire mesh or window screening to each side's hole. That way they can still see each other, but not have any physical contact. When they are reunited, I remove the mesh "window" and duct tape the boxes together at the bottom "sill" of the window so that they then have two "rooms" in their condo and sometimes they like to roost on the sill.
Here's a photo of one condo that I used when one of my chickens was picking at the others. After about a week in visible segregation, they're all the best of friends:

Thank you both so much! I think I will leave them with the rest of the family for now, but if I need to move them I will certainly use the "condo" approach! That's a great idea! Thanks again.
