Should I set them at the same time?

Hello everyone,

I've just has success with hatching 4 chicks in our incubator and now want to set some more eggs. I have 5 lavender Silkie and some 4 Brahma Bantam eggs which I'm about to put in the incubator. I have heard that Bantams sometimes hatch earlier, so should I set them all at the same time, or put the bantam eggs in a bit later?

We have a Brinsea Mini Eco Brooder, so not much room for chicks once they've hatched, so I'm not happy leaving the hatched chicks in there for 24 hours, but at the same time, instructions are clear that I mustn't open the incubator while chicks are hatching. Understandably. Slight logistical problem.

Thanks

Marina

interesting. I dont have Bantams so I dont know if they hatch earlier.
Honestly I have found that the chicks I leave in the bator for at least 24 hours are the most lively and vigorous. They just seem to need that time to get it all together.
Little bit of crowding is ok, you should see commercial hatches
