One of my Silkie hens is sick and I have no idea what to do. Yesterday she was stumbling a bit. No one else noticed but me. Then last night she didn't walk in the coup but was laying at the bottom. Normally they all go inside. Then this morning when I let all the birds out she staid in the same spot. She is just standing with her eyes closed. What do I do? She is my daughters pet and my husband wants to take her to the vet. Any advice would be great.

If she is your pet, of course, it is perfectly appropriate to take her to a vet for evaluation and treatment. Not all vets treat birds, though, it is a bit of a specialty area, so you'll want to find one that does. It's kind of a wierd line to walk between pet-owner and livestock owner, isn't it?

If you do take her to the Vet, would you be so kind as to let us all know what diagnosis was made and treatment the Vet prescribed? It may help someone else facing similar symptoms in future. Thanks and good luck with the little one.
