Should I take them?

Ask why she's giving them away. Alot of people are moving right now and selling off their stock really cheap. I know of at least 3 goatherders that's selling off their stock super cheap right now. Good quality goats too. Another lady had her mini farm (all pets) and she's selling horses for $50 just because she lost her farm and has a limited amount of time to vacate the premises. Sad Sad Sad.

I would definitely be causious, but just because they are cheap and/or even free does not always mean there is something wrong with them. DO use caution however.

I say heck yes as long as they're healthy and have had all their shots. I had a good deal on a pair of alpines but ended up bringing home pinkeye that has infected my whole herd. You might want to keep the newbies seperate from any others you have for awhile.

you will never get more expensive animals than free ones

case in point, the last three freebies I brought home, the saanen buck jumped the fence and impregnated my $1500 show boer doe!

*gulp*

As DH always says "If it's free and it EATS...we want it"
He can be so amusing at times...

That is one reason we have so many animals!!! The local animal shelter brings us all their critters except cats & dogs instead of disposing of them if they are not claimed or adopted. We try to re-home most of them, unless I just fall in love!!!
