Should I trade my horse trailer?

I have a 1995 Bison 2 horse with tack-under-manger. Steel with very light surface rust. Padded, rubber mats on floor. Floor, brakes and undercarriage still in great shape. If I were to sell it, I'd ask around $1500

A woman had a 2 horse w/ dressing room on CL for $700. Older, steel, rusted through in some spots. Floor is decent, not sure of undercarriage. Tires are dry-rotted and needs new brakes and a couple of minor things. She needs a smaller trailer, I'd like a slightly bigger one. We talked trade. The tires worried me, so I told her I'd take it if they put new tires on it.

I didn't hear anything but she just emailed me this morning and said she'd put tires on it if I was still interested.

Should I do it?

I think you should look at useage, trailers can be repaired, is the one you would trade for better suited for your use? I have a 3 horse slant BP 04 WW with DR, it pulls great and I love it, but it really does not suit my use any longer, so next year I plan to either sell it or trade for a GN 3-4 horse that has a place where I can sleep when I go show.
Also would yours sell for the $1500 easy? If so, sell it and go buy the other one, you have a trailer and cash in your pocket in case it needs a few repairs.

Does the other trailer have mats? What about the bearings? How long since they hae been packed? I don't know how well trailers are selling in the current economy, but I would get estimates on the repairs that you want and weigh the differences. Do you want the out of pocket expenses for the repairs?

I haul commercially and would recommend that you pull any trailer before buying it. PM is you hve any additional questions.

I decided to keep mine after all. I would have been trading a perfectly good trailer for a trailer I would have to put $500-600 into. The other one was rusted through in spots, the trailer floor boards were replaced on top of old boards. The tack room door didn't latch all the way. I just got bad vibes about it.
