Should I worry yet??

Could this be the first escape attempt? :D

That is most definately a pip and on the right end too :) Yay! You should hear peeping soon

You wouldn't think that seeing that could make a grown man so happy!

If I see another couple of those in the next few hours I'll be even happier.

Thank you for your input.

You're very welcome. I hope you have a great hatch of healthy chicks :) After the first pip it can still take as long as 24 hours, just depends on the chick. :)

Just one more daft question.

Now that one egg appears to be hatching should I now leave the incubator closed or am I safe to quickly check the others?

Sorry for answering late, but most recommend leaving it closed as much as possible to preserve the humidity. If you have no issue getting the humidity back up easily then it's ok to open it briefly. Has you chick started zipping the shell yet? :)

They will rest for a bit sometimes so you may not hear peeping for a couple hours occasionally. a trick some use is putting the sound of peeping chicks near them. It encourages them to hatch faster.

Nothing from egg 3 as yet but egg 1 was moving quite vigorously earlier.

The good news is that Lucky was born at 5pm today (UK time) after a struggle. She's chirping away in the incubator now.
