As a new lover of chickens, I was wondering if I should expect and egg from each one a day? They were given to us a month of so ago and are a bit over a year old.

Some days I only get one egg. I would say 5 days out of 7 I get 2 eggs a day, one from each. They have access to the actual covered
and coop all day long from the run. Also sometimes the eggs are early in the day and sometimes not until late late afternoon.
They seem very healthy and happy and run to all of us for treats each day.

Our little 8 Chicklets are 6 weeks old today and we will be adding them to the other two next weekend when they are 7 weeks
old. I hope that is not too young. I do have two silkies out of that 8 that I will keep inside for another 2 or so weeks as they are
smaller.

Be Well,
Jonnie

Sorry they are Plymouth rocks and I get at least 10 eggs a week. Actually usually 12....Seems at least one day each one takes a break.
I think this is normal but since I am so new I wanted to make sure. I am also giving them oyster shells mixed in with the scratch.
Yesterday I hung a head of cabbage for them and they ate every bit and were so darn funny! I am such a crazy proud Mama!

Oh another question and this one might be hard to answer. When we got the 8 chicklets from our local feed store 6 weeks ago I asked for one white and one black silkie. Then just 6 good breeds for laying eggs and hardy for Idaho. So........I have no idea at all what breed they are? How long do I have to wait to be able to tell? Or are pictures of them now good enough to be able to say?

I hope this might help a little? No one was home to help me hold them....I tried to get the white one with her back to the camera to turn around...she has a bit of silver on her head. The two silkies (black and white) are off to the side. As you can see we have 3 that are the same, then a black one, the white with silver and the tanish brown one. Any help?

They are doing great! Their level of production is a testament to your level of care.
Exactly.

That's better than we got out of our hatchery barred rock - 6/7 days. Now if they were White Leghorn or Red Star hybrids, I would say every single day there should be an egg until they are about 2 years old. I cannot remember the last time our White Leghorn skipped a day of laying.

I would put money on the red ones producing the most eggs for you. They look like Rhode Island Reds or more likely "Production Red" which is a Rhode Island Red bred for egg production (what they were intended for anyhow). The tan and black with brown look like they could be easter eggers and they are fairly decent egg layers in our experience and fun to add color to your basket. I cannot see the white chick well enough to make a guess.

the black one taken today...the white and silver one taken about 10 days ago...
