Should parents need licences to be parents?

People who have no means of support, but want to have kids and expect welfare to support them, should not be allowed to have kids. Period. It has nothing to do with credit scores and playstations. It has to do with being a drain on society. I got a bonus at work last week - they took $3,400 tax out of it. It hardly seems fair when I work all the time and other people sit home with kids they can't afford and live off of my tax dollars.

So yeah - income DOES matter. You can romanticize being dirt poor all you want.

so ... you would want to force me to abort my baby because I got pregnant by a miracle not long after my partner lost his job?

So what happens if you are pregnant, and then fail the test? Abortion?

If parents must have a lisence to have children, then you have just taken away their basic human rights.

Or because they've been paying taxes for years and now need the system to support them due to circumstances beyond their control. Redundancies happen. Illnesses happen.
Not everyone is on welfare because they're lazy.

Very true.
I am in awe that my parents figured out ways so we did no tend up in the system due to job loss.

So farmers that grow the food you eat but have no real income should not be allowed to to have kids because they are a drain on you?

Income does not relate to ability to raise a kid.
