i am asking these questions on behalf of a friend. she is keeping this duck inside and might potentially stay a "house duck" is it ok for a duck to be solitair or should it have a friend? (another duck of the same breed)? aparently its a welsh harlequin.

if your home alot, or someones home. And it has space and good food and a quality of life then keeping it alone is okay!

@Kkrista123 has an indoor duck, And other members too!

Of course they are flock animals and crave attentions 24/7, ide say get two, Keep them inside and see what you think of it, But keep a backup plan incase you want them outside! they are messier than chickens!

The duck needs a constant companion. There is always the random circumstance where someone has one duck but in those cases you’ll find that the duck has a doggie friend or goes everywhere with the human etc.
Ducks are extremely social and will be depressed and anxious without a friend.
