Should we get new chicks? Please help me decide if its a good or bad idea!

I would not get two to add and then one later. Get all three at the same time. The one you add later will get picked on by everybody and that'll be too much stress.
the 3rd chick is getting picked up next week she said. The chicks will only be a week a part in age.

Here are our two new little ladies!

One is a RIR and the other is a Marans (I am assuming a cuckoo marans)
Chicken math did get the best of us and we decided to give in to the cuteness of the RIR and grab her too. If it were up to me we would also have a frizzle now, but I maintained some self control and we will be sticking with these peepers until we get our EE next week.

Our coop is HUGE, so much roosting space for just the 3 chickens who are in there now. Our run is about double the space of the coop, not that big but we let them range an avian netted portion of our yard on the weekends while we are around to make sure our bully flyer barred rock doesn't get out and dig up the flowerbeds. While these new ladies are brooding, we're thinking of adding on another frame to extend the run a bit, but we've got some time before that needs to happen. Thanks for the tips about hiding spaces and keeping our barred rock separate until everyone else is comfortable with each other.

Thanks for all the other tips in general! Makes me feel better about getting these guys!

I love the RIR I don't have any that color. And yes your Marans does look like a Cuckoo Marans. Are they sexed pullets?

I love them too, already have stollen my heart and all my attention. They just sprawl out and sleep, but I can't stop staring at them.
90% chance they are pullets, so I sure hope they don't grow into that other 10%!

I agree with donrae. Separate the dominate hen out (if you can, put her in a cage inside the coop where they all can see each other but she can't get to them) before you add the new ones in, the new ones should be at least close to full grown before you add them. Wait until they have been accepted into the group before re adding the dominate to the flock. House the new pullets within sight of the rest of the flock for a while before adding them in. And of course provide hiding places and extra feeders & waters when you add the new pullets. Often if you have a bully, removing them for a week or two alieves some of the problem.
