This is something you'll find people pretty split on with those that keep food in the coop/those who do not - and there are arguments to be made for both. For me, I do because our run is uncovered (it's enclosed, but does not have a solid roof) so in times of inclement weather when the birds choose to stay in they will have access to both food and water.........and partly because that is just how we always did it when I was growing up (old habits die hard, lol). My next "improvement" plan is to put a food/water station in the run as well, but that will not be right away.
